Sherrie is a much-loved Actor,  Broadcaster, TV Personality and Novelist and is true TV gold and a legend in every sense of the word.

Having had starring roles in Crossroads, Emmerdale, Coronation Street, many more Sherrie became the popular hotel manageress Joyce Temple-Savage in the two times National Television Awards winning series BENIDORM.

Born in Nottinghamshire, Sherrie was brought up in a show business family; her father was a singer and her mother a model. She began performing at the age of six, touring the UK’s theatres in revues with her own signature song, “You’ve Got to Have Heart”. She was granted a scholarship to attend the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Upon graduating, Sherrie won seven major awards, including Best Actress and Best Comedy Actress.

Sherrie Hewson began her screen career in the early 1970s, with early television appearances in Z Cars, The Moonstone and Within These Walls. In 1975, she joined the Carry On team for the film Carry On Behind and was subsequently cast in several episodes of the Carry On Laughing television series.

In 1993, she was cast as Maureen Naylor in the UK’s longest-running soap opera, Coronation Street, the dizzy, accident-prone supermarket assistant.

In 2006, she was invited to resurrect the character of Maureen for two Christmas editions of Coronation Street. 2007 saw Sherrie make a number of non-acting television appearances. As well as a regular on Loose Women, she featured in Celebrity MasterChefDickinson’s Real Deal and was runner-up in Soapstar Superchef . She also appeared on a celebrity special of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?. In partnership with fellow Loose Women panellist Carol McGiffin, she raised £75,000 for charity.

In 2012, Sherrie joined the cast of Benidorm as the new manager of the Solana hotel, Joyce Temple-Savage in Series 5 of the comedy.
